BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SYSTEMS
About Us
Overview
My Community Behavioral Health Systems, Incorporated is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides crisis supportive housing with access to quality therapeutic counseling for persons on a journey to addiction recovery.
My Community BHS was established as a result of an identified need for safe haven, sober-living opportunities for recovering addicts. For those desperately pursuing substance abuse recovery, a lack of housing often becomes a deterrent and a trigger for relapsing back into a destructive lifestyle of addiction and insanity. My Community provides temporary living options in a supportive, drug-free environment and is a bridge to the 'real world' for persons participating in, or succeeding from, any outpatient or Intensive outpatient counseling program.
A client's stay in a My Community facility is limited to six months so that they don't become complacent and discouraged. Statistics show that clients moving into drug-free living situations following a stint in an outpatient addiction counseling program are more likely to succeed when moving towards independent living situations than those returning to their previous housing environment or homelessness. A departure deadline from the house program reinforces a client's need to focus on individual goals and achievements and empowers them to continue up their pathway of sober living without hindrance.
House managers are recovering addicts with a year or more of sobriety. They provide onsite assist for clients, helping them meet their social goals.
